Welcome

Welcome to the home of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon (BBO) Cross Country Association.

The Association was formed at a meeting held at the Great Western Hotel in Reading on the evening of Tuesday, 8th November 1910. It was was quickly advertised that the Association would hold a cross country championship event for teams of twelve to be held in January 1911. For those interested in the history of the Association newspaper clippings of meeting and subsequent notices as well as the publishing of the Association's adopted original rules, these are available to view under the Gallery section.

Since their inception the BBO Cross Country Championships have become established as a regular annual fixture in the cross country calendar. The Championships are open to clubs that are located in the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Of the clubs that have competed over the past century or so only two clubs can rightly claim to have supported the BBO Cross Country Championships from the very beginning. Those clubs are Reading AC and Wycombe Phoenix Harriers.

All clubs and organisations whose headquarters are located in one of the three counties are eligible to enter teams. Full details of the current rules and conditions of the Association are available to view under the Rules section of this website. All eligible clubs are notified of the affiliation and entry details in the leadup to the Championships each year.

If your club/organisation would like to be added to the mailing list please visit the Contact page and send a message to the Entries & Results Secretary.
